Thy Kingdom Come
2018
White keys form a cross and spell out the Lord's Prayer, centered in a sea of black keys spelling out many ways other things in our modern life calling for our time and attention. The bigger of the two pieces, Thy Kingdom Come challenges the view to contemplate how they spend their time and who's kingdom they are building with their lives.
I Shall Not Want
2019
White keys form a cross and spell out the opening line of Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." The cross is surrounded by black keys, spelling out "the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life..." - the classic three avenues through which humans try to fulfill our desires on our own. I Shall Not Want is a challenge to the viewer to consider where they are looking for life and satisfaction.
Originally envisioned as an NFT art series, Plug Me In is a visual commentary of digital paintings on the the connectedness of our modern lives. We live our lives surrounded by cables. Much of how we interact with the world, even in this wireless age, requires these physical connections, though we often don't see or think about them. The bold color and comic style of these connectors standing tall like modern totem poles confronts the viewer with both the reality of our dependency on these connections and how quickly they can change.
